FEEDING DIRECTIONS
The feeding directions of Mega-Bite® 16% Mare & Foal Texture shown here are for a mare and foal and being fed together. The normal amount shown in the table below is based on the bodyweight of the foal, but this quantity will provide the proper feeding level for the mare and foal from birth through weaning. After the foal is weaned, the mare may be switched to another Mega-Bite® formula that fits the development of your horse. For optimum growth, the weaned foal should continue on Mega-Bite® 16% Mare & Foal formula until reaching 700 lbs as a yearling, at which point selecting an alternative Mega-Bite® feed that fits the development of your horse should be considered. Start with the normal amount shown in the table below for the foal’s bodyweight. After observing both mare and foal’s progress on this feed for a period of time, you may want to increase or decrease the amount of Mega-Bite® 16% Mare & Foal feed by ½ lb or less per day to keep them both in desired condition. Do not feed more than that amount shown in the maximum column of the table for the foal’s weight.
MARE & FOAL FED TOGETHER: Adjust feeding rates so that mares do not gain more than ½ LB/day.

Fresh clean water should be available at all times. Horses that have been exercised should be cooled out and re-hydrated properly before being fed and before having access to unlimited water. A good quality hay should be offered at the daily rate of 0.5 to 1.0 lb per 100 lb of bodyweight.
A white salt block should be made available at all times.

ADVANTAGES
A 16% protein, high energy feed that can be fed to both mares and foals. This feed is completely fortified, no additional vitamin or minerals are needed. This feed may continued to be fed to the foal following weaning until it is ready to be switched to a yearling feed such as MEGA BITE 14.
